You'll know what is the right thing to do because you will actually understand their behaviour. The word empathy is the definition of why we help each other and that's how we can understand how the other person is feeling and you can help them.

Being a student in psychology, I can assure you, involves doing a lot of research. Doing different research on different topics improve our capacity to do good research and understand the problems more. If you don't have good grades, you'll not be able to become a psychologist. That's why studying in psychology is good to improve our research capacities, unless you don't want to become an employee of one of the best careers.
